| Fèis Rois at the Scots Trad Music Awards | |
| 22 November 2007 Fèis Rois has been invited to present a youth performance at the Scots Trad Music Awards' ceremony on Saturday 1st December in Fort William. It's a fantastic opportunity for young Highland musicians to perform on the same stage as Shooglenifty, Kathleen MacInnes, the Anna Massie Band, the Unusual Suspects and many more. "We are working on a special set of tunes for the ceremony, all composed by the MacDonald brothers of Glenuig" said Director Rita Hunter. The rehearsals are being led by one of the Fèis past participants John Somerville and Mhairi Hall. Twenty teenagers, all from our weekly and monthly classes, the Cèilidh Trail and the recent Senior Fèis will be participating. This is the fifth 'Scots Trad Music Awards' weekend hosted by Hands Up For Trad. It runs from Thursday 29th November - Saturday 1st December. Fèis Rois won the 'Community Project of the Year' at the 2004 Trad Awards for our groundbreaking Traditional Musicians in Schools scheme, which brings teams of traditional musicians into primary schools throughout Scotland.
