Adult Fèis
News Update!
Due to television recording commitments Phil Cunningham has had to withdraw from the Adult Fèis this year.
However, we are delighted to announce that Allan Henderson will be joining us in Ullapool as our Groupwork tutor.
Allan was taught fiddle by Angus Grant from Lochaber and is best known as a fiddler from the hugely popular fiddle led group - "Blazin' Fiddles". As a multi - instrumentalist he also plays pipes, whistle, piano and keyboards. He has composed a number of fine tunes and was one of the lead fiddlers in Phil Cunningham's groundbreaking " Highlands and Islands Suite". Allan has had a long association with Fèis Rois and we are delighted to welcome him back this year.
Life's best musical weekend
This dream Fèis takes place in Ullapool over the May Day holiday weekend (Saturday, Sunday & Monday), 3rd to the 5th May 2008, and has much to offer.
An amazing A-list team of tutors lead classes in accordion, bouzouki, cello, chanter, fiddle, flute, Gaelic language, Gaelic song, guitar, groupwork, harmony singing, Highland pipes, mandolin, piano, Scottish small harp, small pipes, step dance and tin whistle. Our expert tutors cater for all ability levels and a complete beginners class gives a careful introduction, offering tin whistle, guitar voice and piano. Some instruments can be provided for the weekend - accordions, fiddles, guitars, harps and keyboards. Daily classes are from 10am-4pm, followed by sessions and ceilidhs all over the village. The Tutors Ceilidh is often described as the best night ever, with an unbelievable line-up of 40 tutors performing.
Fèis Rois is pleased to anounce the following list of musicians as tutors at our 2008 Adult Fèis. We welcome Gerry O'Connor from Ireland on fiddle as our guest tutor.
We will update this list as soon as we have confirmation of additional tutors.
To register for the Adult Fèis please download the application form and post to Fèis Rois with your deposit before the 18th April 2008.
Please note that due to the huge demand for places this year, we are unable to accept applications after Friday 25th April.
