With the new Gaelic Digital Service (MG Alba) starting in September, it is essential to give the Gaelic-speaking community of Scotland an opportunity to rate and to voice their opinions of the programmes broadcast on the new channel.

CULTURE MINSTER ANNOUNCES FUNDING BOOST FOR Fèisean nan Gàidheal DURING HEBRIDES VISIT

Portree based Fèisean nan Gàidheal is to benefit from an additional £25,000 from the Scottish Government to take its drama group, Meanbh-chuileag, to schools around the country.

Hitting the Ceilidh Trail

This week sees the highly successful Fèisean Cèilidh Trails hit the road once again. In 2007 more than 30 young people aged between 16 and 22 took the opportunity to spend their summer holidays performing traditional music to audiences in and around their local areas. This year will see the launch of a new Cèilidh Trail in the Western Isles, opening up the opportunity to 8 additional talented young musicians.

WESTERN ISLES HITS THE CÈILIDH TRAIL

This summer sees the launch of the first ever Western Isles “Cèilidh Trail”, with 8 young people from across the area set to take part.  Lewis based Fèis Eilean an Fhraoich are leading the initiative, with support from Fèisean right across the islands. The project will provide the young musicians with an opportunity to train and develop their skills, followed by a two week tour of events right across the Western Isles in August.
