We want to make sure that you have all the information you need before your child starts a class here at Fèis Rois. If you don’t find the information you are looking for below then please contact our Community Classes Co-ordinator.

A big part of the Fèis Rois weekly class programme is to help support young people to build their confidence and skills to perform in the community. We offer a small number of one-to-one sessions for young people as part of our weekly classes. Get in touch with our Community Classes Co-ordinator to find out more.

We hold community ceilidhs locally at the end of the June term when family and friends are invited to come along to listen to the classes performing. Often there are other opportunities to perform in the community at fundraisers or family events.

How much do classes cost?

2019-2020
1 class: £240 for the full year, or by standing order for 10 months at £24
2 classes: £450 for the full year, or by standing order for 10 months at £45
3 classes: £650 for the full year, or by standing order for 10 months at £65

We offer discounts for siblings and family members; this works the same as the multi-class rate above.

Our classes are open to everyone and we endeavour to be as flexible as we can; please contact our Community Classes Coordinator, Tj, if you have any queries or questions about our pricing structure.

Can I just turn up?

No. It’s important that we have all your emergency contact details and any information regarding special circumstances and additional support needs before your child joins our classes. If we don’t have this information we can’t accept your child in the class.

I don’t have my own instrument, does that matter?

No, it doesn’t matter as you are welcome to hire one. Fèis Rois has an instrument bank of around 100 instruments. Find out more about instrument hire.

  • Improving Beginner – you will have been playing for 6 – 12 months and have a basic understanding of technique and a few tunes under your belt.

Whether you are starting from scratch or polishing your skills, we have well respected musicians on hand to help you in a relaxed and fun environment. Everyone is welcome at our classes and if you can’t find something suitable for you, then get in touch and we’ll see if we can help.

We also have some sessions available if you’d prefer to play tunes rather than learn in a more structured class environment. In addition to the classes, there may be opportunities for you to perform through the year if you would like to and we hold a Christmas social event for all class members too.
