Tutor Training Programme

We’re offering an exciting programme of tutor training opportunities in March. Music tutors are invited to take part in an introduction to Music Therapy as well as the tried-and-tested Music Melting Pot – a chance to discuss youth music making activities in an informal forum.

On Wednesday, 21st March, music therapists from Nordoff Robbins provide an introduction to Music Therapy – Inclusive Practice. From 11am until 4.30pm at the Spectrum Centre, Inverness, Mary Veal, Head Music Therapist (Tayside) and fellow therapist Jenny Hutton, will look at some of the skills and techniques used in music therapy practice that can be transferred and adapted to other areas of shared music-making, particularly for participants with additional support needs. The workshop will offer delegates practical ideas and strategies for use in their own musical activities.

On Thursday, 22nd March from 10am-4pm, the Music Melting Pot provides an open environment to share youth music making activities, songs, tunes, warm-ups, resources and wisdom. The event, held at the Culloden Battlefield Visitor Centre, is led by the tutors themselves and serves as an occasion to learn, share, and have fun!

Both courses are free to attend and lunch will be provided. Book your place online.

Support towards travel costs can be arranged for those travelling from further afield, please let us know if you require this when booking.
